バッグクロージャーというものがある。これはつまり、食パンなどの袋の口を留めているプラスチック片のことだ。
僕は、コンビニやマクドナルドのような店で買ったコーヒーのマドラーを何十本も溜めてしまうほどの吝嗇なので（こちらをご参照）、同様にバッグクロージャーもまたキッチンに幾つも置いてあるw
きっといつか何かの役に立つのだろう、と思って捨てずにいるのだけれども、別のビニール袋の口を留めておくといった実に平凡な再利用法しかやっていなかった。ところが、とあるネットの記事で、もっと賢い使い方が何通りも紹介されているのを読んだのである。
その中のひとつが、コンセントに挿したプラグのネームタグにするというものだった。そうそう、電源ケーブルというものは昔から殆どが黒色と相場が決まっていて、一旦コンセントに挿すと、どれがどの機器のものなのかサッパリ分からなくなってしまうのである。
でも、バッグクロージャーに名前を書いて取り付けておけばダイジョーブ。おお、何と便利なのだろうw 捨てずにたくさん取っておいて良かった。
早速、リビングとキッチンの電気製品のプラグに片っ端からやっておいた。あとで自室のオーディオや音楽関係の機材にも付けておこうと思った。
このバッグクロージャーは、ライフハック的にまだまだ他にも様々な利用法があるようだ。実に、面白い。
ちなみに、うちにあったのは、白色と水色と黄色の3色。よく見ると、黄色だけ穴の形状が少し異なっている。トップの写真をご覧あれ。これには何か意味があるのだろうか？ひょっとしてメーカーの違いかな？とか興味は尽きないのであった…。
それから、自分でも他の利用法を考えてみた。iPad miniのライトニングケーブルの先っちょが何処かへ行かないようにするのだ。小学生時分の転校の際、当時の担任の先生から貰った小石にバッククロージャーを貼って固定した。
その穴の中にコネクターを挿しておけば良いというわけだ。この石は普段、テーブルの上に置いてあるので、ケーブルの先っちょが分からなくなってしまうことはなくなるだろう。

さて、先達ての日曜日は、午前中の内に投票へ行ってきた。息子や娘が通っていた小学校である。午後から、ZOOMで英語の勉強会のようなものに参加するので、夕方や晩ではなく早いうちに行っておこうと思ったのだった。
道すがら、学校へと向かって歩いている人がいつもの選挙時よりも幾分多いことに気づいた。果たせるかな、投票所へ着くと体育館の渡り廊下を折り返すほどの行列であった。あらこんなにたくさん来ている、こんなことは初めてだねえ、と誰もが口にしていたようだ。
入り口では特に入場制限をかけているわけでもなく、列はスルスルと流れ10分あまりで順番が回ってきた。あとは、書いて投票するだけである。すぐに済んだ。そして、僕がこの学校に来たのは、もうひとつ目的がある。そばにうさぎ小屋があるのだ。
そのために、家のまわりに生えているたんぽぽの葉っぱを何枚か摘んで持って来た。
うさぎたちは小屋の奥の方で肩を寄せ合っている。少し寒いのかも知れない。僕が金網の間から葉っぱを落としても近づいてくることはなかった。写真だけ一枚、撮った。きっと、あとで食べてくれるだろう。
帰りも、連れ立って歩く人たちと何度もすれ違った。体育館で長い列に並んでいるときに「みんな、きっとこの国を変えたいんだねえ」とポツリ言っている人がいたのを思い出す。
そう、その意気だ。いつまでも連綿と続く地盤と組織票で国政が只虚しく繰り返されていくことが日本に一体何を齎すのか、ひとりひとりが気づくべきなのだろう。今回は、投票率が上がることを心の何処かで期待した…。
そして、翌朝。いつものように午前4時くらいに起床したのだけれども、先ずインターネットで選挙速報を見て驚いた。
今回もまた出馬していた、かみさんの従兄弟に何と当確マークが付いていたいたのである（その後、当選となった）。元々、自民党の市会議員だったのだけれども、それを辞して日本維新の会に所属を変え国政選挙に乗り出してから、何度目かの正直だったのだ。
ニュース記事などを読む限り、今般の総選挙では維新に風が吹いたようだ。まあ、そのお陰の初当選ということでもあるのかも知れない。それにしても、これは身内の誰にとっても、瓢箪から駒だったと思う。まあ何にせよ、目出度いことである。
長きに渡る閉塞で実に不甲斐ない状況となっている、この日本の国政の場において、地に落ちた一粒の麦たらんとして是非とも心血を注ぎ込んで欲しいと僕は願っている…。

さてさて、先達て行ったWeblioオンライン英会話の内容をアップしておきたいと思う。今回も前回に続いて、映画に関する質問に対して僕が回答するというものを選んだ。
具体的には、予め書いておいた僕の英文を叩き台にして、宮崎駿についてや、スピルバーグ監督の『ウェスト・サイド・ストーリー』やビョーク主演の『ダンサー・イン・ザ・ダーク』についてなどについて色々とお話ししたのである。
画面の向こうの先生は、やはり宮崎作品を幾つもご覧になったことがあると言う。特に『魔女の宅急便』がお気に入りなのだそうだ。話をしながら、主人公のキキの、あの大きなリボンをジェスチャーで頭の上に何度も描いていた。

あと、下の14番で述べているように、「観て後悔した映画」として僕が挙げた『ダンサー・イン・ザ・ダーク』についてはかなり関心をお持ちになったようである。
まあ、実際には「後悔した」というよりは、英文にも書いてあるように、「大きな衝撃と悲しみと少しの安堵」を感じたということなのだけれども。
ちなみに、先生にとっては、小学生のとき学校で『ハチ公物語』を観てたくさん泣いたのが、「後悔した」映画なのだそうだ。確かにあれは、日本人なら誰もが知る通り、悲しい結末であった…。

6. Which local film represents your culture the most?
Animation films represent Japanese culture the most. In fact, there are a lot of live action movies in Japan, too. But I’m sorry to say that most of them don’t have world-class qualities now. Many years ago, we have several talented directors of live action movies, such as Kurosawa and Ozu. Nowadays in Japan, instead of them, animation films have world-class qualities. To name just a few, Miyazaki, Takahata, Oshii, Anno, Shinkai, Hosoda and so on. I think you might have heard some of their names. Today, very luckily, Japan is blessed with many talented directors of animation films. Anime is one of the representative cultures of our country.
Incidentally, my most favorite animation film is Miyazaki’s “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind”. This film was released in 1984: that is 37 years ago. Last year, I watched it at the theater as a revival. I really felt again that Miyazaki put all of his great passion into this film at that time. He has directed more than ten animation films so far and I believe “Nausicaä” is his best work by far. Have you ever watched it or any other his animation films?
By the way, it is said recently that Miyazaki might be creating a sequel to this film in secret as his retirement work. He is already 80 years old. If the rumor is true, we would be able to watch “Nausicaä: Part2” or “Nausicaä: The Final” in a couple of years. His retirement will be so sad for us, but I’m looking forward to watching Miyazaki’s last film in the near future.
11. Do you think movie trailers are necessary to attract more viewers?
Yes, I think so. Nowadays, we can see movie trailers not only at the theaters but also on the Internet, such as YouTube. That is a very good thing, because trailers can attract our interest more and more. Last week, I happened to see a very interesting trailer on YouTube. That was a musical movie directed by Steven Spielberg, “West Side Story”. I didn’t know that Spielberg had created this movie. It is coming out soon, in December.
About 20 years ago, I watched the original movie of “West Side Story” on video. It was released in 1961, 60 years ago. Have you ever watched it? I was much impressed especially with the music composed by Leonard Bernstein. As far as I saw the trailer of the new “West Side Story” last week, I feel it is a nice musical movie. As mentioned last week, I don’t usually watch musical movies, but probably I will go and see this movie on the theater in coming December. This is how a movie trailer was able to attract my interest successfully, right?
13. Is it a must to read reviews before watching a movie?
I don’t think it is a must, but I often read some review articles before watching movies to understand in advance what to see or what to notice in the movie.
For example, “DUNE” is a movie I watched in this October (as mentioned last week). Before watching the movie, I thought I needed a kind of preparation study, because I knew that the original story for this movie would be very long and complicated a bit. Then, I watched a review video on YouTube to know the detailed background story and character relationships.
Besides, I read some articles, such as an interview of the director. By doing so, I was able to immerse myself into the movie at the theater and understand it better. Once again, reading reviews is not a must, but I believe they often help us to understand the details of movies.
14. Is there any movie you regret watching?
There’s just one more thing to talk about a musical movie. I want to answer to the question: “Yes, there is.”
Exactly speaking, however, perhaps I suppose it was not a regret, but a kind of mixed feeling of great sadness and a bit of relief. I’m talking about a musical movie that was released in 2000, “Dancer in the Dark”. This movie is famous for staring an Icelandic singer Björk. Do you know Björk? She is one of the most unique singers in the world.
Björk wrote a lot of beautiful songs for this musical movie. Besides, she acted as a poor immigrant woman, Selma, who was losing her sight. She lived in a trailer house with her young son and worked hard in a factory every day. That’s when an incident happened to Selma. Things around her were getting worse and we face a certain conclusion of this Selma’s story. I was wondering if she became happy in the end, because the conclusion was so much shocking that I could feel great sadness and a kind of regret. The movie’s ending song “New World” may tell us where she is and how she is now. And, with some relief, we may finish watching “Dancer in the Dark”. I really believe this is a very nice movie, but you may need to make up your mind a little before watching it. If you have any chance, please try to watch the movie.
